Addiction Medicine Committee The Addiction Medicine Committee is a specialty committee of the Monroe County Medical Society that meets fives times annually to discuss topics of educational interest in the field of addiction medicine and addiction psychiatry. The Addiction Medicine Committee strives to involve the Monroe County Medical Society membership in prevention programs and treatment, as well as intervention and rehabilitation initiatives aimed at patients with addictions and abuse diagnoses. |

Health Committee To help educate and inform physicians and the public about complementary and alternative methods of health care, including: the use of food supplements, herbs, spiritual healing, meditation, acupuncture, homeopathy, naturopathy, chiropractic care, and others. |

Committee Keeps track of all legislation that has an impact on the medical profession and the health care delivery system. The Committee keeps local legislators informed of our position regarding various pieces of legislation. The Committee supplies representatives to serve on MSSNY Federal and State legislative committees. |

Scholarship Attempts to raise funds to provide a scholarship for at least four medical students in the Rochester area and to raise additional funds for low interest loans to students in the Rochester area attending medical school. This is an effort to show medical students of this area that physicians care and are concerned about the high cost of medical education. We are particularly concerned with helping those students who have essentially no help from home and whose needs are demonstrated to be maximal. |

Medicine Committee Promotion of liaison and a better understanding between private practice sector of the community, the occupational physicians of Monroe County and the community at large. When an area of misunderstanding exists between these groups, the Committee seeks to bring the parties together by using the expertise of members. |

Area Physicians Council Work cooperatively to ensure that residents of the Rochester region continue to have accessible, affordable, high quality health care, and that local, state, and national reform initiatives serve the needs of our community by preserving the strengths of our local system, while improving upon the deficiencies. |

NY Chapter 1 Committee on School Health & Sports Medicine To promote the health, welfare and safety of school age children, to allow opportunity for collegial exchange and coordination of efforts among area school physicians, and to assist area schools in accomplishing health objectives for school age children. |
